European study showed that doctors may miss the diagnosis of some cases of pneumonia if relied solely on the patient's medical history and symptoms without subjected to x-rays. The Dutch researchers found published their findings in the European Journal of Respiratory and that among the 140 patients who were diagnosed as pneumonia through the X-ray doctors thought at first that only 41 cases actually infected with the disease severe pneumonia. Said Richard Watkins, who was not involved in the study he conducted research on how doctors diagnose pneumonia "I think this (study) of the strong arguments, which calls for a chest X-ray." The catch pneumonia patients cough or fever, nausea or vomiting, chills, or chest pain. Under some circumstances can result in injury to the patient to the intensive care unit and may even cause death. In 2009 said the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1.1 million Americans hospitalized for pneumonia and died about 50 thousand people because of him. He says researchers, led by Saskia van Foote of the University Medical Center in Utrecht that most doctors rely on personal Ch_khasém of identifying infected pneumonia because it is not possible to subject everyone to x-rays to detect any sign of infection. But the researchers wrote they say there is not much information available about the accuracy of which is characterized by doctors' diagnosis. At the study hired Foote and colleagues with information during the period from October 2007 until April 2010, which belong to 2810 patients in 12 European countries. All the patients were complaining of cough only but 72 of them were initially diagnosed as pneumonia. Then all patients underwent an X-ray to see how accurate the diagnosis of doctors. Among the 72 cases diagnosed their condition as pneumonia injury X-ray showed that 31 of them are infected with pneumonia. In the remaining group, the researchers found that doctors missed 99 cases of pneumonia. Generally doctors were able to diagnose less than one-third of cases of pneumonia.
