Emma, is that you? Stone ditches her vibrant, red tresses for a darker 'do following Beverly Hills salon visit Though naturally a blonde, she's become known for her signature red tresses. But on Friday Emma Stone emerged from Meche Salon in Beverly Hills with an unrecognizably darker new 'do. Instead, the 27-year-old showed off short, brown locks, slicked back into a small ponytail, as she made her way to her car.
Emma wore a stylish, black leather jacket as she exited the salon, sported over a fitted, white Nike T-shirt. She had her hands full with a water bottle, her wallet, and a bag from the salon, possibly filled with products to help maintain her new look. She wore a bit of soft, pink lipstick for the errand, and hid her eyes behind a pair of chic, black sunglasses. The in-demand actress likely made the change for her upcoming role as tennis star Billie Jean King in comedy Battle of the Sexes.
Emma will portray the tennis legend, who went up against Bobby Riggs - at once considered the best tennis player in the world - for an exhibition match called the Battle of the Sexes. The match - held on September 20, 1973 - occurred after the former Wimbledon Champion (Bobby) insisted he could still beat any woman player, eventually instigating Billie to take him up on his challenge due to prodding and misogynistic comments. However, despite his taunting, Billie ended up defeating Bobby in front of more than 30,000 fans at the Houston Astrodome - then the largest crowd ever to watch a tennis match - and went on to be credited by many for sparking a boom in women's sports.
Emma's Crazy, Stupid, Love. co-star Steve Carell has signed on to play Bobby Riggs in the upcoming film, directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. Curiously, two other Battle of the Sexes films are currently also in development, with HBO and Playtone working on Proof - starring Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti - while Chernin Entertainment and Gary Sanchez have Will Ferrell attached to play Bobby Riggs in Match Maker, as reported by Variety. Emma, meanwhile, has also been in talks to portray Cruella de Vil in a live action film telling the origin story of the villainess for Disney, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
